Everyone should read this before buying a suit.
What is current? Should the suit have 2 or 3 buttons, should the pants have cuffs or not, pleated front or not? Thanks!
Seriously, there is no current style. 2 or 3 buttons are fine. These are classic styles. However, I prefer 2 buttons becoz it shows more of my tie and dress shirt. Pants can have cuffs if you are tall. If you are short, then better to go for no cuffs. I like the clean drop for my pants. No cuffs is my choice. Flat front is the in thing... but not necessarily everyone carries it well esp those with big tummies.
i like 3 butts straight down the front suits, meaning no double breasted(the ones that cross over and button at the side, thats so old and ugly)
What the article missed is the length of the jacket which comes in short, regular, long and extra-long. I believe the rule of thumb is that the jacket should completely cover the seat, not extending more than an inch past its bottom
good artilce.. would like to have some more artilce posted,...
what is the rule of jacket length?
Jacket length should just cover the bottom of the pants pocket. and/or with your hands hanging strait along your sides you can curl your fingers and the bottom edge of the jacket should be near the bend of your second knuckles.
I wish the experts would address the double breasted issue. I agree with dfdf --they look old and ugly; but, I can't convince my boyfriend not to wear the DB suite he inherited from an old man who died.
I would love to know what style of pant should be bought for the guy with a big belly. Should he buy plain fronts or pleated?
